It meshed traditional style with contemporary comforts beautifully. At times the traditional Japanese style bedding can be too hard, but my friend and I found theirs to be perfectly comfortable. It is also comfortable walking distance from many of Kyoto’s most popular tourist destinations while still managing to be in a relatively quiet residential area.

Although the area is relatively quiet, the walls are rather thin. Passing vehicles and noisy pedestrians were easily heard. Fortunately, Himari provided good earplugs which addressed the issue.

Thank you for the great experience!

The staff is great, kind and super helpful. The structure is beautiful, extremely clean and in a perfect position! Snack bar is refilled every day and you can have a satisfying breakfast. It's been our best stay in Japan! Super recommend to everyone.

The structure isn't huge and not exactly sound proof so don't expect extreme silence all the time. Still, a great experience :)

Great first time stay at a tatami room as a solo traveler.

Futon beds were triple layered for comfort of tourists who aren’t used to sleeping in tatami floors. Very thoughtful touches in every aspect of the guesthouse. Couldn’t fault in any way.

As this is an old house of 130 years but impeccable well maintained, the sound proofing is not that great but ear plugs were provided. You can hear cars driving past and people chatting outside at night and in the morning. But it’s relatively quiet during middle of the night.
